Changing and improving are our watchwords...and we are always looking for ways to make our Muriwai Lodge customer's and guests' experiences more enjoyable and extra special. We are also always on the lookout for ways to expand our role in this wonderful community. We already host a weekly Green Swap where our excellent gardeners share and swap their abundant homegrown or made provisions and recently we were privileged to welcome the installation of our community Pātaka Kai - a small storehouse that holds provisions and allows those with goods to share to donate them to those who need them. If you have a community idea you want us to help you make a reality get in touch!
Cyclone Gabrielle update - the damaged and debris-strewn area of our place is being bought out as part of the government/council scheme with settlement taking place later in April 2024. Our expectation is that the land, once cleared and restored, will become Park (safe to use except during an extreme weather event). We (and our community) hope to continue to kaitiaki this whenua and we will update you all regularly as the work to restore the land gets underway.
And...in the spirit of keeping things fresh we have a range of new signs to help you all find us and the grand old girl is in the process of a getting a new paint job on her north face! Come and check out our wonderful accommodation; enjoy coffee and delicious food at the Muriwai Deli and treat yourself to a gift from The Little Coolstore during the day and, as the day draws in, settle into the new Muriwai Bar - gather your friends and enjoy the sunset and the great drinks and food on offer.
